Vincennes - Peggy Jean Smith, 88, Vincennes, went to her heavenly home Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Peggy was born March 27, 1938 in Jasonville to Wayne and Laverne (Hayden) Cox.

Peggy had several hobbies including collecting dolls, refurbishing old jewelry into a new look, and Christmas ornaments which she would display on several trees. Peggy enjoyed performing as a professional clown for several years, watching the children smile and laughter brought her great joy.

Those left to mourn Peggy's passing are two sons, Jason Clements of Washington and Tony (Deborah) Clements of Vincennes; two step-sons, Bradley Smith and Douglas Smith both of Florida; four foster sons, Zack (Allisha) Willis of Peterburg, Daniel Ragon of Colorado, Robert (Stacie) Nodine and Ronnie Eads of Floyd Knobs. One sister, Rita (David) Matheny of O'Fallon. Illinois; two brothers, Roger Cox of Washington and Ronnie Cox of Kokomo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday at Wabash Community Church.

A funeral service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday April 9, 2026 with Paster Dale Biehl officiating at Wabash Community Church, 1033 North 10th Street, Vincennes. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
