Norma A. Gines
Norma A. Gines, 85, of Washington, was called to her eternal home Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, while at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born in Washington on Jan. 12, 1934, to the late William G. Edwards and Geneva A. (Gaither) Edwards. Norma was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School and a 1974 Vincennes Nursing School graduate. She was employed by the Daviess County Hospital for several years and then retired from Hillside Manor where she was a registered nurse. Norma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, writing pen pals, and collecting stamps and coins. Norma had a passion for caring for others and long after her retirement still received calls from family and friends for medical advice.
She is survived by her loving children, Janice Stone, Julia Gines, Donald R. Gines "Jr." (Beth); seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William "Jim" Edwards (Carol).
Norma is preceded by her parents; a sister, Donna Boyd; and a brother, Gaither Wayne Edwards.
There will be a visitation Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday at Gill Funeral Home, with a service to follow on Friday at 1 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.

Aunt Norma and I both enjoyed reading and I fondly remember talking about our favorite books, especially Stephen King. She was very kind and always remembered my birthdays. My dad (Norma's brother Wayne Edwards) loved her very much. When we visited from San Diego, we used to always stay with Aunt Norma. I loved Aunt Norma and will miss her forever. My thoughts go out to her kids and my Uncle Jim (her younger brother). I hope she rests in peace.
