Michael L. Thomas
Michael L. Thomas, 75, went to his heavenly home Nov. 11, 2019, at The Villages at Oak Ridge. Michael was the son of Milton E. Thomas and Mary E Thomas (Bline). He was married to Charlene A. Thomas (Matteson) on May 18, 1967. Michael was 1962 graduate of Washington High School and graduated from VU with honors in robotics. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army from 1963 to 1967 and was honorably discharged. He was a boilermaker for Chicago Bridge and Iron and then worked for Old Ben Coal Company for 24 years and retired from there. He also worked at Perdue in maintenance and Walmart in maintenance. He was formerly a Boy Scout Leader and was of Christian faith.
Michael is survived by his wife Charlene; daughter Sarah Burgin(Charles), son Joshua Thomas (Maria), spiritually adopted daughter Melissa Santos (Rafael); grandchildren Ryleigh Dillon, Annika Burgin, Lavania Burgin, Rebel Thomas and William Heath. He had several specially loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, 11 a.m., with visitation Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gill Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.gillsince1872.com.

I’m sad to hear of Mike’s passing. What a loss for your family. I’ll remember his kind face and goofy ways as he tried to make people happy so often. He was a good guy. All my best to you all.
