Petersburg - Melva Lou Schell Heller, 93, a lifelong resident of Petersburg, is in the presence of our Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Amber Manor.
Melva was born March 27, 1932, to Fetna (Bruner) and Orville Schell. She married James R. Heller May 9, 1951, and would have celebrated their 75th anniversary this year.
Melva was baptized and a member of the Arnold Church until it closed. Later, she attended the Gospel Center. She was employed at Uniroyal and for many years at Hooks/CVS in Petersburg. She loved meeting all the customers and talking to them. Melva loved spending time with her grandchildren, working puzzles, and listening to or watching country and gospel music.
She is survived by her husband, James, three daughters, Brenda Heller, Debbie Heller, and Becky Kissling. She is survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren from Brenda, four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren from Debbie. Her parents and sister, Randy Hall, preceded her in death, and one sister, Judith Schell, survives.
Private services for Melva were held on Monday, Feb. 2, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with Pastor Ron Ficklin officiating and burial followed at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
