Jovian Bart McKinley (Joe) Obituary

Goodyear, Arizona - Jovian "Joe" Bart McKinley, 85, of Goodyear, Arizona went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2025.


He was born in 1940 in Terre Haute, Indiana to parents, Marjorie and Quinten McKinley.


Joe graduated from High School in Loogootee, Indiana and continued his education at Kansas Newman University (BA), Central Michigan University (MA), and Post Grad at George Washington University.


Joe joined the USAF in 1960 in a twenty-year career to Lieutenant Colonel. He was in the last class of Officer Candidate School, Class of 1963 USAF, Lackland AFB, Texas. Joe spoke often and kept in contact with his fellow OCS classmates in the following years. His military career of 20 years sent him to serve in Vietnam and 7 years overseas.


Joe is survived by his wife of 30 years, Violet McKinley. They have a blended family of 6 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Leo (MaryJo) of Washington, Indiana and nephews, Jonathan and Joey.


While living in Florida, he was a Veteran Mentor for PB County Veteran's Court. He was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and served in leadership for Christian Evangelism Explosion founded by D.J. Kennedy. Later Joe moved to Chicago to work for Rockwell Electronics and attended Moody Church where he continued the Evangelism program.


Burial will be in Wheatland Cemetery, Wheatland Indiana.
