Jerry  Kemp
Jerry L. Kemp, 89, of Loogootee, passed away at 12:31 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
He was born Dec. 2, 1929, in Velpen, Indiana, to the late Claud Winfield and Lois Cecil (Corn) Kemp.
Jerry married Betty (Tempel) Kemp on May 16, 1953, and she survives.
He retired from NSWC Crane after many years of employment as a mathematical statistician. He was member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was the former co-owner of Dog'n Suds Drive-in in Loogootee. He was a past member of the Loogootee Senior Citizen Housing Board and the Loogootee High School Scholarship selection committee.
Jerry loved playing golf, playing cards and water skiing. He was an avid baseball fan and was a catcher for summer league baseball teams. He enjoyed watching Indiana University and Purdue University basketball.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Lois Kemp and infant brother, Billy Kemp.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 66 ½ years, Betty Kemp of Loogootee; children Jerry D. Kemp of Carmel, Terry L. Kemp of Bloomington, Sheila Kemp of Carmel and Gayla (Phil) Arvin of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren Zachary Arvin and Lindsay Arvin; brother David L. (Myra) Kemp; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.
