Irma was born December 30, 1941, in Tell City, to Julia (Peter) and Joseph Damin. A lifelong learner and devoted educator, she earned her master's degree and spent many years shaping young lives as a dedicated schoolteacher before retiring. Teaching was more than a profession for Irma—it was a calling she fulfilled with patience, kindness, and care.

Faith was the foundation of Irma's life. She found great joy and comfort in Bible study, church activities, and serving her parish community. A faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Irma lived her life with quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to God and family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jeffery (Melanie) Kavanaugh, Steven M. (Trisha) Kavanaugh, and Jason (Katie) Kavanaugh; her treasured grandchildren, Katherine E. Kavanaugh, Terri Lynn M. Kavanaugh, Julia Renee Kavanaugh, Michael Dee Kavanaugh, Tyler R. Kavanaugh, and Brady A. Kavanaugh; and her siblings, Alice (David) Huckstep and Tom (Janet) Damin. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Julia Damin; her beloved husband, Robert Lee Kavanaugh; and her siblings, Eldon Early and Arthur Damin.

Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,Friday, February 13, and 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, February 14, at St. Peter Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Father Steven McGinnis, Father James Koressel, and Father Lowell Will concelebrating.
