Washington, Indiana - Doris A. Madden, 89, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Born on April 1, 1937, in Washington, Indiana, Doris was the cherished daughter of Janet (Helms) and Firman Haag. She graduated from Washington Catholic High School and was the youngest of twelve children, a role that helped shape her spirited personality and quick wit.

In 1956, Doris married the love of her life, William R. Madden. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, sharing thirty-eight wonderful years of marriage until William's passing in 1995.

Doris was known for her spunky, feisty nature and her dry, sometimes delightfully cynical sense of humor that could make those around her smile. She had a gift for speaking her mind while always showing her love through the little things she did for those she cared about. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many family members she treasured.

She found happiness in the quiet creativity of tole painting and gave generously of her time, faithfully volunteering with St. Vincent de Paul for more than thirty years. A devoted member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Henderson, Kentucky, Doris lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and service to others.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Teresa (Michael) Smith, Kevin Madden, and Keith (Sabine) Madden; her grandchildren, David Smith, Jeremy Smith, Katelyn Brockman, Ryland Madden, Jessica Hyneman, and Cassie Madden; nine great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She was welcomed into eternal peace by her parents, Janet and Firman Haag; her beloved husband, William R. Madden; her son, Roger Madden; her brothers, Charles, Gerald, Paul, James, Joseph, Robert, Francis, Albertus, and Lester Haag; and her sisters, June Zimmerman and Rosie Sinnott.

Doris will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her generous heart, her enduring faith, and the spirited personality that made her truly one of a kind. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Paul Ferguson serving as Celebrant.
