Daniel Bennett
Daniel W. Bennett, 59, of Washington, Indiana, went home to his heavenly father at his home on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019.
Daniel was born Oct. 8, 1959, in Madison, Indiana, to Henry and Helen (Behr) Bennett.
Daniel dedicated over 30 years of service to the city of Washington as a lineman and spent over the last decade as the assistant superintendent. Daniel had worked under many mayors and worked with many fellow employees whom he always cherished. His fondest memories throughout his career were always the challenges of his job, helping to improve the city and how much he cared for every single person he came in contact with.
Daniel enjoyed spending his summers by the pool with his "summer family," going on camping trips with friends in the fall and spending every moment possible with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Daniel was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 630 of Washington, where he held the treasurer position until recently. People could always see him there on Wednesday night for bingo or for the famous Treasure Hunt drawing. Daniel was also a board member of the Indiana Municipal Electric Association and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Moffett) Bennett; daughter Kasy (Andrew) Heidenreich; son Ryan (Heather) Dant; father Henry Bennett; sister Tracey (Bill) McCain; brothers Lee Bennett, Scott (Marla) Bennett, Marty (Julie) Bennett; and grandchildren Owen and Emilia.
Daniel is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Bennett; granddaughter Josie Heidenreich; and sister-in-law Susan (Mangin) Bennett.
A visitation service for Daniel will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Our Lady of Hope in Washington from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Mass will be held at 1 p.m., with a burial service to follow at St. John's Cemetery. You may leave an online condolence at www.gillsince1872.com.
In lieu of flowers, it is desired that a donation be made to Right to Life, Helping Hearts Hospice, St. John's Cemetery, or the Josie K . Heidenreich Scholarship at Washington Catholic Preschool in honor of his late granddaughter.

First neighbors then friends. Our daughters are "sisters". So many memories over the years from riding the roller coasters at Kentucky Kingdom because our spouses didn't want to, to learning how to snorkel in your pool. Dan you will be greatly missed. Love and prayers for your family 🙏
