Barry Baumert Obituary

Washington - Barry M. Baumert, 80, Washington, passed away peacefully in the morning hours on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Amber Manor in Petersburg.

He was born March 13,1945 to Camila Irene (Sturgeon) and Robert Francis Baumert in Washington. He married Cathy Arnold on November 7, 1964 and together they had three sons, BJ Baumert, Terry Baumert and Larry Baumert.

He worked and retired from the Washington Times Herald after 50 years of dedicated service with them. He was an avid collector of beers cans and signs. He was also a St Louis Cardinal fan and he enjoyed going to the games

Those left to mourn his passing are his son, BJ (Denise Parsons) Baumert of Washington; brothers and sister, Danny Baumert, Robert (Ruth) Baumert, Bill Baumert all of Washington, Ruth Ann Wade of Bloomington, and Richard (Shirley) Baumert of Vincennes; three grandchildren, Codie Baumert, Clarissa Baumert and Makenzie Parsons; and 5 great grandchildren.

The visitation will be held 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
