TSgt. Richard Lee Ping, U.S. Air Force Retired, 60, passed away at his home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Saturday. He was born Nov. 28, 1955 in Washington, Indiana.
Richard spent his life dedicated to enforcing the law. He was a Federal Police Officer for the past 40 years most recently for the Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas "Gib" Ping; maternal grandparents, Florence Elizabeth Grannan and Gervase Grannan; paternal grandparents, Russell "Slim" Ping and Jeretta Engle Ping; stepfather, Patrick Kelly.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Ping; son, William Thomas Ping (Jacque); daughters, Christina Ping and Jenna Ping; six grandchildren, Cameron Clark, Brayden Clark, Colton Ping, Cheyenne Ping, Peyton Ping, and Richard Ping; sister, Patricia Wenzel (Chris); mother, Wanda Sanders; stepmother, Frances Ping; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Murfreesboro Funeral Home, Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m.
