James "Curt"'s Story

James C. "Curt" Elliott, 84, of Loogootee, passed away at 6 a.m. Thursday at his home.
He was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Martin County, to the late Clarence and Ada (Doyle) Elliott.
Curt was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Martin Men's Club and the American Legion. He loved carpenter work, gardening and riding four-wheelers. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a Korean War veteran.
Curt is preceded in death by his son, James C. Elliott Jr.; parents Clarence and Ada (Doyle) Elliott; great-granddaughter Madison Raeanne Allbright; siblings Naomi (Rocky) Walters, Clarence I. (Lavon) Elliott Jr., Martha Lou (Merrill) Wolford, Carl Elliott, Fred Elliott, Norbert Elliott, Larry Elliott; and brother-in-law Robert VanWinkle.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Irene (Buzan) Elliott of Loogootee; children Constance (Charles) Allbright of Loogootee and Dennis R. (Debbie) Elliott of Oaktown; grandchildren Clint Allbright, Miranda Allbright McKee and Misty Renee Elliott; great-grandchildren, Patrick Allbright, Carlette Hoffman, Nakisha, Victoria, Heather and Veronica McKee; siblings Doyle (Rita) Elliott and Donna VanWinkle, both of Loogootee, Tony (Debbie) Elliott of Greenwood and Mike (Vonda) Elliott of Loogootee; sisters-in-law Marie Elliott and Georgia Elliott, both of Loogootee, Mary Louise Elliott of Harrison, and Thelma Elliott of Wilmington, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. J. Kenneth Walker and concelebrant Rev. Joseph Erbacher at 11a.m. Monday at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin Cemetery Fund.
