Carl's Story

Carl Alvin Beasley, 88, of Odon, passed away surrounded by his family at his home Tuesday. He was born in Daviess County on Jan. 2, 1928, to John Alvin and Forrest (Riggins) Beasley. He married Dorothy Farley on Sept. 17, 1949, and she preceded him in death June 13, 2010. They celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Carl was a truck driver and farmer, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 710, the Million Mile Club, Indiana Sheriff Association and a lifetime member of the NRA. Carl enjoyed riding horses and flying an airplane.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Beasley Armour of Bloomfield, Carla Beasley of Bloomington, Nancy (Mike) Walls of Burns City and Sharon Beasley of Newberry; one son, Bradley Carl Beasley of Odon; six grandchildren, Zechariah (Megan) Algood, Lucas (Tracie) Algood, both of Bloomfield, Chelsey (Zach) Morris, Jesse (Lyndsey) Walls and Alison Beasley, all of Odon, and Shelby McAtee of Loogootee; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Beasley of Odon; one sister, Vivian Evans of Odon; nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Beasley; and son-in-law, Jan Armour; stepgrandson, Chris Armour; several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon, with Rev. Gerald Frye officiating. Carl will be laid to rest next to his wife in Raglesville Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Hospice or the Raglesville Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
