Yvonne Darlene Richardson, 80, of Washington, passed away Saturday. Born Dec. 6, 1935, in Evansville, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Helen (Duley) Couch.
She was a 1953 graduate of Central High School in Evansville. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1956. On Nov. 22, 1956, she married Verne Richardson Jr. She began her nursing career as factory nurse for McCord Industries. She also worked at Daviess Community Hospital and was school nurse for Washington Community Schools for several years. She was co-owner of Kidwell's Dress Shop. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also a lifelong fan of Purdue University and the Chicago Cubs. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (David) Wildridge and Kate (John) Stein; two sons, John Richardson and William (Judy) Richardson; a brother, Larry Couch; and eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Carol Martin and Donna James.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Washington, with Rev. Faye Bilske officiating.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Gill Funeral Home. The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority will conduct memorial rites at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
