CHARLESTON,ILLINOIS - William Marshall Davis, 99, of Charleston, passed away May 23, 2017 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

William was born Sept. 13, 1917 in Eldorado, Illinois, son of Marshall and Zelia (Edington) Davis. He grew up in McLeansboro, Illinois. He attended Lockyear's Business College in Evansville where he met and eventually married the love of his life Norma R. Littell. They were married for 62 years until her death in 2000.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a zest for life and especially enjoyed lively conversations. He was an ever ready and gifted storyteller. When he arrived at any social occasion, the men would say "Here comes 'Big Time'", as he always liked to have just that, a "big time." He was an avid tennis player and by some accounts, played tennis from the age of 6 until he was 94 years old. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a salesman with Chicago Tube & Iron. After retiring, he and Norma moved to Charleston,Illinois to be close to their son Steve and his family. They were also snowbirds, spending their winters in Sun City, Arizona. Bill lived his final years at Brookstone Estates in Charleston, where he was treated with love and compassion as if he was part of their family.

He is survived by one son: Robert (Gia) Davis and family; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Brett) Johnson and family, Andrew (Melissa) Davis and family, Christopher Davis, Benjamin (Preethy) Davis, Sarah (Jason Jerousek) Davis, Lily Davis and Levi Davis and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: William Stephen Davis, and three sisters: Miriam Houser, Betty Staker and Pauline Schoenlank.

Bill will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
