Virgil Lee Ward Virgil Lee Ward, 89, of Washington, Indiana, passed away Nov. 23, 2018, in Washington. He was born June 29, 1929, in Daviess County, to the late George Jr. and Mildred (Davis) Ward.
A 1947 graduate of Glendale High School, Virgil served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, 10 years in the Naval Fleet Reserve during Vietnam, and NSWC Crane for 14 years. He married Mary Lou (Catt) on Dec. 12, 1974. She preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1996. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington, and a life member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by a daughter, Jaqueline Lynn Ward; a son, Steven Douglas Ward; four grandchildren; a sister, Edith Helms; cousins Richard (Carol) Killion, Betty Pride and Joan Holstine. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Vonlue McEwen.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Gill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Helping Hearts Hospice and The Legends caretakers. Online condolences may be made to www.gillsince1872.
