Terry Emerson Scott
Terry Emerson Scott, 69, of Newberry, Indiana, born March 27, 1950, passed away at his residence in Washington, Indiana, early last week. Terry moved to Washington as a teenager, where he graduated from Washington High School in 1968. Terry attended LeTourneau University after graduation and moved back to Washington after his father had a stroke to help his mother run the family farms. He joined 20th Century Chevy Car Club, where he was a member for 49 years and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 44 years.
Terry moved to Jasper, Indiana, and married Joy Scott in August 1977, where he worked as an electronics technician at Kimball Electronics. He also worked at North American Product Corp., Precision Cutting Tools, was a Dubois County jailer, and retired from Dubois Machine Company in 2011.
Terry's favorite pastimes included working on cars and engines, traveling to dirt track races with family, fishing, drag racing, video gaming, farming the family farms, playing guitar, spending time and talking with car club members about cars, spending time with friends, family, and Chodie the pug.
Survivors include his son, Aaron Paul Scott, future daughter-in-law Leslie Steigmeyer, future grandson Bryson; his brother, Robert Scott, sister-in law Glenn Scott; niece Phelicia Ricks; and nephews Charlie and Jeffrey Scott.
Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Joy Scott; parents Paul and Mary Scott; brother James Scott; sister Sherrie Scott; father-in-law Ambrose Wilz; grandparents Emerson and Mary Lucile Blackmore; grandparents Edwin and Bertha Scott; and Chodie the pug.
Visitation will be held at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church in Newberry on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service immediately following. Burial will be in Prairie Chapel Cemetery following the service.
