Robert Lewis Farren of Washington passed away at 7:39 p.m. May 18, 2017, at his home in Vincennes. Robert was born Oct. 27, 1941, in Daviess County, the son of William and Leona (VanWinkle) Farren.
Robert served 11 years in the Indiana National Guard in Washington and loved his job as a farm hand, working for the late Denny Murphy and Judeanne Murphy Delaney at Murphy Farms in Montgomery.
Robert is survived by his children, Amy Wright of Vincennes, Darrell Farren of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brenda Wieling and her husband Alan of Vincennes, and Roberta Hartsburg and her husband Gaylord of Moores Hill.; son-in-law Russell Dove of New Palestine; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Bill Farren and his wife Judy of Washington, Kay Walls and her significant other John Brown of Washington, Jim Farren of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, William and Leona (VanWinkle) Farren; son-in-law William "Willie" Wright; daughter Darlene (Farren) Dove; very dear friend, Denny Murphy; sister Florence "Peggy" McDonald; and great-grandson, Rhett James Hartsburg.
Robert's funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Bethany Christian Church, 1139 SR 57, Washington, with Ron Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may visit with Robert's family from 11 a.m. until the hour of service time of 1 p.m. at Bethany Christian Church on Tuesday.
