Robert "Bob"'s Story
Robert "Bob" E. Petty, 81, of Montgomery, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday from Eastgate Manor of Washington while surrounded by family. He was born on Jan. 3, 1936, to Ernest and Ines (Chestnut) Petty in Plainville. He was a 1955 graduate of Barr-Reeve High School. On April 7, 1958, Bob married the love of his life Judy K. (Guy) Petty. Bob was in the Army Reserve. He worked at Hoosier Magnetics, Department of Natural Resources at Glendale Lakes and farmed in Daviess County. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Church and Charity Lodge 30. He enjoyed being with his family and camping.
Bob is survived by his wife, Judy K. Petty; sons David W. (Dana) Petty, Tim E. (Jamie) Petty, Brian R. (Lisa) Petty; grandchildren Amy (Joey) Scott, Ashley(Adam)Jenkins, Jeremy Petty, Brandt (Kristen)Petty, Madison Petty and Carley Jo Petty; 12 great-grandchildren and siblings Cecil (Joyce) Petty, Carolyn (Frank) Whitehouse and Anna Lou (Terry) Chapman. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Herman Dale Petty, Alvin Ray Petty and Walter Lester Petty.
The funeral service for Bob will take place on Monday at 11 a.m. at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, with Pastor Tim Baxter officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Cemetery.
