Richard J. Tennis, 82, of Washington, passed away Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
He was born May 8, 1934, in Washington, to Francis and Mary Irene (Healy) Tennis. He graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1952. He was a farmer who enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing euchre. He served 10 years in the Indiana National Guard.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
He is survived by wife, Mary Jane (Moeller) Tennis, whom he married Sept. 7, 1973; son Richard (Chris) Tennis of Washington; two daughters, Mary Ann Brown of Elnora and Laura (James) Belleau of Newburgh; sister Eleanor (Tim) Mattingly of Montgomery; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Tennis of Washington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Tennis;
and a grandson, Francis Tennis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
