Ralph E. Bechtel Ralph Bechtel, 92, of Plainville, Indiana, passed away Dec. 13, 2018, in Washington. He was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Bicknell, Indiana, to the late Edward and Fern (Bowers) Bechtel.
Ralph was a World War II Army veteran and worked at NAD Crane/CAAA, retiring in May 1985. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the yard, playing golf, as well as the St. Louis Cardinals, and IU basketball. He served in WWII as a staff sergeant in the 84th Infantry Division throughout Europe and Germany. He received the Victory Medal, two overseas service bars, the Germany Good Conduct Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w/one Bronze Star.
He is survived by a daughter, Darla Trueblood of Plainville; sons Rick Bechtel (Cindy) of Edinburgh and Craig Bechtel (Leanna) of Jasper; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Miller of Odon, Shirley Hardy, and Beverly Taylor, both of Bloomington, Dot Doyle (Tom) of Washington, Violet Arthur (Gene) of Bloomfield, Alice Witsman (Gary) of Elnora, and Wilma Harp (Hal) of Worthington. He is preceded in death by his wife Felba; two sisters, Virginia Hardy and Mary Grove; and one brother Rex Bechtel.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, for visitation at Gill Funeral Home in Washington. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Denny Spinner officiating. Burial will follow in Plainville Cemetery. So shocked to find out that Ralph passed away! I don't get the paper and with the holidays I hadn't checked my internet! So sorry to find out about your loss! Praying for you and your family! Love, Fran

So sorry for your loss. I will greatly miss seeing your Dad working outside when I take my dog for walks.
