Paul Dean Hammelman
All who knew Paul will remember his remarkable spirit, his generosity, and his extraordinary sense of humor. He lit up many a room with smiles and laughter, delighting in lighthearted fun while always maintaining the respect of everyone around him. He brought this gift wherever he went, from his hometown in Indiana to his early adulthood in Rochester, New York, then to the home he and his wife made in Pennsylvania, and finally, to the beaches of the New Jersey shore where he enjoyed life as a retiree.
Paul loved music, whether he was listening to a favorite album, singing in church, or enjoying a live performance in the local pub. It was a fitting passion for a man who leaves such a strong legacy, with generations of loved ones who will reflect and pass on his wisdom for years to come. After all, part of music's magic is that it long outlives the musician - just as Paul's energy, love and influence are sure to outlive him.
We cherish the memories that Paul has left us. They serve as reminders that it is not the length of our lives that matters most, but rather the ways in which we are able to touch the lives of others. The world is a better place because Paul Hammelman was in it and we, his family and friends, are better souls for having known him.
Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lisa, and their children, Jennifer and Rachel; by his father Edgar; and by his sister and brothers, Cathy, Gary and Jason (Christie). Paul will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
