Margaret  Pirkle
Margaret Jean Pirkle, 83, passed away at her residence at 4:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2019. Margaret was born Dec. 13, 1935, in Pike County, Indiana, the daughter of William and Helen (Richardson) Spray. She married James W. Pirkle on Jan. 24, 1958, and they were married for 60 years.
Meg was a 1954 graduate of Petersburg High School and a member of First Christian Church in Washington for many years. Margaret co-owned Gill Funeral Home with her husband Jim and was vice president several years until their retirement. She enjoyed playing bridge and bunco and played quite often with her friends she was in card club with. In her younger years she was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing very much.
Survivors include her husband, James W. Pirkle of Washington; daughter Michelle Brown and her husband Bill of Washington; son James W. Pirkle II of Washington; and her grandchildren, Connor and Olivia Brown of Washington. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Carmen Bowman, Delores Johnson and Gertrude Gladish.
Friends may visit with Margaret's family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at First Christian Church, 117 N.E. Third St., Washington, Indiana. Margaret's funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at First Christian Church with Bros. Byron Holtsclaw and Richard Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. So sad to hear of our dear friend Margaret' s death. We have fond memories of good times spent with Margaret and Jim. Margaret was a sweet, kind and fun loving person. She will be sorely missed. Our condolences to Jim and the family.

The pain and panic you had for so long is gone and we are left with a celebration of your life. We have had a friendship for at least 75 years and are down to 5 or 6 of our old gang, but we never forgot each other. Ron and my prayers are with you, Jim and your family.
