Kenneth "Jay"'s Story
Kenneth "Jay" Ackison, 58, formerly of Washington, passed away April 18 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia.
Jay was born Nov. 10, 1958, to Kenneth and Phyllis (Moore) Ackison in Sumter, South Carolina.
Jay was awarded the Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm at the age of 15. He graduated from South Dade High School in Homestead, Florida, in 1977.
Jay is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Phyllis Ackison of Washington; his wife Rita of Milton, West Virginia; his daughters Mara Mounts, Kaitlyn Rayos and Haley Sullivan; 10 grandchildren; his sister Brenda Newland of Washington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Marissa and Joey.
Jay is preceded in death by his brother Tim Ackison; his sister Pam Simmons; a niece, Alicia Simmons; a nephew, RJ Simmons; and a grandson, Waylon.
There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 30, at the Kiwanis Cabin at Eastside Park in Washington. Jay chose to donate his body to science at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.
