She was born June 26, 1919, in Pike County, to Shirley and Maude (Hayes) Mitchell. She attended Glendale High School and had retired from Daviess County Hospital, where she had worked for Dr. Bill Shafer. She was a member of Aikman Creek Baptist Church, where she had been a member for over 80 years.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Bonnie) Jones and Mike (Lou) Jones, both of Washington; grandchildren, Shelley (Dave) Crooks, Derek Jones, Ann E. Jones and Katlin (Tommy) Riester; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Jones, on Dec. 23, 2006, whom she married Dec. 24, 1936; her parents; brothers, Tom, Jack and Kenneth Mitchell; special aunt Gertrude "Sis" Warren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Aikman Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Cheryl Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in Aikman Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Aikman Creek Church, 700S, Washington, IN.
