Joe Dan Aikman, 79, Petersburg, entered into rest on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at home. He was born on September 17, 1937 in Washington, to Claude (Jack) Aikman and Pearl (Dutch) Aikman.
He owned Aikman Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, a family business serving the community for over 40 years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.
He is survived by his wife Maxine (Shelby) Aikman of 55 years; children, Darla Traylor, Carol Jolly (Tom), and David Aikman (Michele); grandchildren, Amy Marotti (Josh), Cody Traylor, Luke Jolly, Alexis Jolly, Callee Aikman, Connor and Sydney Aikman; sister Roberta Jacqmain (Dr. Ralph); and nieces and nephews.
Visitation services are planned at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg for Monday, May 8, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with funeral services on Tuesday, May 9, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or First Christian Church of Petersburg.
