Janice L. Armes, 79, of Washington, went to her heavenly home Dec. 7, 2017, from Washington Nursing Center. She was born May 7, 1938, in Washington, to Herschel J. and Helen E. (Edwards) Cornelius. She was a 1956 graduate from Washington High School. On June 15, 1957, she married the love of her life, John C. Armes. Janice worked and retired from UniRoyal as a receptionist, teletype, and PBX operator, and worked in the fabric and craft department at Walmart. She later was the secretary of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority.
Janice is survived by her children, John G. Armes and James R. Armes Sr. (Nikki Halter); grandchildren Kelli Armes, Marie Armes and James R. Armes Jr.; and brothers Dale Cornelius, Gordon Cornelius and Gerry Cornelius. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband John C. Armes; sisters Marjorie Theroff, Marilou Walker and Jean Skaggs; and brother Rex Cornelius.
The funeral service for Janice will take place Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Gill Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
