James "Winkie"'s Story
James R. "Winkie" Justice, 66, of Washington, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, in Evansville.
Winkie was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Brandenburg, Kentucky, to the late Robert M. Justice and Nina Jewell Hayes Justice.
Winkie attended Meade County High School and was a heavy equipment operator for Black Beauty Coal Company for many years. He was a member of Cold Spring Baptist Church in Battletown, Kentucky. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and loved to garden and spend time outdoors.
His grandparents, Herman Hayes and Pauline Sedoris Hayes; nephew, Greg Scott; and father-in-law, Carlisle "Dudge" Humphrey, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Justice of Washington; children, Joey Justice and Andrea (Tim) Strange; grandsons, Cole and Eli Strange; his mother-in-law, Rena Lou Humphrey; and his sister, Charlotte (Jerry) Trent.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, from the Chapel of the Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (EST) Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
