Goldie's Story

Goldie Patricia West, 81, of Clay City, passed away December 1, 2017 at Exceptional Living Center in Brazil. She was born February 28, 1936 in Athens County, Ohio, the daughter of Romaine Mace and Della Carder Mace. She graduated from Waterloo High School. She was active in the Mineral Holiness Mission Church. She was the Secretary-Treasurer of the church and helped with VBS, Christmas Programs and many activities with the children's group. She was also active in the 4-H program in Zaleski, Ohio.
Patty was united in marriage to Thomas Kenneth Shingler in December of 1956. He preceded her in death in 1973. She married Chester West in January of 1976 and he passed away in June of 1993. Patty has lived in the Clay City area since 1991.
Patty enjoyed sewing, quilting and homemaking. She loved being outdoors in the garden and working in her flowers. She also like to fish and take rides in the country looking at the fields and flowers. She attended the Union Chapel Nazarene Church in Clay City.
Survivors include her children, Pam Puckett of Lafayette, IN, Kenny Shingler and wife Bambi of Liberty, KY, Joie Wagler of Brazil, and Suzanne Crabb and husband Blane of Clay City; step-daughter, Mary Ellen Lybrook of Ravinna, OH; grandchildren, Jeremy Troutman (Nicole), Dr. Andrea Tener (Marcus), Bruce Puckett (Renee), Clinton Puckett, Patty Hall (William), Greta Westermeyer (Kevin), Dalen Shingler, Cole Shingler, Evan Umbright (Liz), Anson Wagler, Aaron Wagler, Rendi Crabb, Lexi Crabb, and Caden Crabb; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda Swart (David), Arthur Mace (Rose), and Addie Jane Riley and sister in law, Elaine Mace; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Tom Shingler; second husband Chester West; siblings, Tim Mace, Leo Mace and his wife Janie, Floyd Mace and wife Helen, Arlee Pidcock and husband Martin; brother in law Ray Riley and son in law, Calvin Wagler.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home. Post a note of condolence at www.schoppenhorstfuneralhome.com
