Franklin's Story

Franklin DeWayne Strauser, 74, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday at his residence.
Born Oct. 9, 1942, he was the son of Wayne Strauser and Julia Corene (Holtsclaw) Huffman.
Franklin owned Big Red Food Mart in Bloomington for 18 years and was retired from GE in Bloomington. He was a member of USA Bassin', the Primitive Baptist Church, was an avid outdoors man and loved his family.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Rebecca Strauser of Bloomington; his children, Beth Martin Orman (Scott) of Linton, Lyn Strauser May of Montgomery, Joseph Aaron Strauser (Kristie) of Bedford, Nicholas Wayne Strauser (Elizabeth) of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his mother, Julia Corene Huffman of Bloomington.
Franklin is preceded in death by his father, Ralph "Pete" Taylor, who raised him.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Elder James Clemmer officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield.
The family wishes any donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Franklin's name.
