Dr. Phillip's Story
Dr. Phillip Bert Simpson, 74, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 6:15 pm, Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Newburgh Health Center.
He was born in Washington, IN., January 11, 1943, the son of the late Roy and Emma (Bauer) Simpson. Phillip was a 1961 graduate of Barr Reeve High School and Indiana University in 1967 earning his Doctorate in Optometry. After 49 years, Phillip retired July 1, 2016 from Ridgway Eye Care where he was a Doctor of Optometry. He also proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Aldersgate UMC.
Phillip was a sports fan and favored the St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana Hoosiers. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family and loved to travel with everyone, especially his grandchildren. Phillip was a wonderful, loving father, husband, and brother who will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Lee (Walker) Simpson, whom he married November 25, 1965; daughter, Amy Kemp of Evansville, her husband, William Jr. and their children Mackenzie, Jordyn, Erin, Blake, and Mac; son, David Simpson of Evansville and his children, Zachary, Luke, Jacob, Emily; and son, Dr. Stephen Simpson of Newburgh, his wife Lori, and their children, Ashley, Adam, Logan, and Tyler; brother, Dr. Roy Simpson of Washington, IN; great-grandchildren, Kenzleigh, Keegan, Kiyonna, Keslee, Ian and Hunter.
Phillip is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Rick Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 10 am until time of service at noon, Saturday, December 23,2017, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.
