Donald Eugene "Rube" Vetor, 94, of Montgomery, passed away Dec. 30, 2017, at Daviess Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Summitville, to Mable and Charles Vetor.
He served his country in the Army during World War II in the 82nd Division. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 38 1/2 years of service. Donald enjoyed fishing, helping split wood, and going different places.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Connie J. (James) Young of Montgomery; grandchildren Amanda Brookins Nichols of Leesburg, Lorri Brookins of Montgomery, Jaime Heckaman Carlson of Warsaw; great-grandchildren Hannah Murphy of Evansville, Mason Kral of Warsaw; brothers Garland "Garbo" Vetor, Phil (Carla) Vetor; several sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, whom he married March 2, 1945, Barbara Nell Vetor, on Oct. 9, 2008, daughter Kay Ann Heckaman on Oct. 4, 2006; his parents; siblings Charlotte, Francis, Walt, Robert, Max, Gerald and Ted.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
