David L. "Dave" Stoll, Sr., 95, of rural Jerome, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at home. He was born in Daviess County, Indiana, on November 28, 1921, to Levi and Mary (Richer) Stoll. He was united in marriage to Edith Raber on December 22, 1940, and she preceded him on June 19, 2009.
He is survived by three sons, Abe (Rose) Stoll of North Adams, Levi (Sondra) Stoll of Jerome, and David Jr. (Lois) Stoll of Jonesville; one son-in-law, Don (Debbie) Stoll of Chelsea, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Carolyn (Paul) Graber of Westminster, South Carolina, Pamela Stoll of Sarasota, Florida, Steve (Renee) Stoll of North Adams, Lisa (Karlin) Mullet of Ashley, Michigan, Brian (Becky) Stoll of Jonesville, Jill (Scott) Kindy of Hillsdale, Beth (Matthew) Eicher of Edon, Ohio, Michael (Marrava) Stoll and Mark Stoll, both of Jonesville; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Victor Wagler; one sister-in-law, Ruth Stoll; two brothers-in-law, Jack Raber and Ezra Graber. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; one daughter, Mary Stoll; one son, Joseph Stoll; two brothers, John and Lewis Stoll and one sister, Catherine Yoder.
Dave was blessed with a large extended family and a wonderful church family. For many years he drove the bus for Vacation Bible School at Liberty Mennonite Church and taught Sunday school at various churches during his lifetime. He was a member at Faith Mennonite Church in Hillsdale. He loved to sing and play the harmonica, and his favorites were the old gospel hymns. He was a lifelong farmer and his sons followed in his footsteps. He spent the winters in Sarasota, and enjoyed deep sea fishing with "the boys," even going along yet this past winter.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. David L. "Dave" Stoll Sr. will be held at Countryside Bible Church (1651 E. Litchfield Road, Jonesville, MI 49250) on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, beginning at 10 a.m., with Pastors Mervin Sommers and Dean Amstutz officiating. Interment will take place in the Stoll Cemetery in Jerome. The family will receive friends for visitation, Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
