Daniel  Kane
Daniel L. Kane, 78, of Washington, passed away at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Corning, Indiana, to Daniel F. and Mildred (Guy) Kane.
Dan retired from the city of Washington electrical department and was a member of the First Christian Church. Dan was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School and enjoyed sports, especially the Washington Hatchets and the Indiana University Hoosiers.
Surviving are his wife, Jean E. (McLin) Kane, whom he married on May 2, 1986; his children, Shawn Kane and his wife Brandy of Huntingburg, Shelly Kane (Fred Hensley) of Huntingburg, Lisa Emmick and her husband Ray of Washington; his five grandchildren, Austin, Tanner, and Addyson Kane, Ryan and Jordan Emmick; and his brothers and sisters, Mickey Burkhart of Plainville, Mary Ruth Kerns, James Kane, and Sharon Cornelius, all of Washington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Carolyn Shafer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, Indiana, with Rev. Byron Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church or the Helping Hearts Hospice.
