Billy Joe Long
Bill had been a mechanic for 47 years for Ward Ford and served in the United States Army Reserve during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Christian Church, where he had been an elder. Bill was an avid IU and St. Louis Cardinal fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing at the river for flathead catfish, and visiting for the Lord when he was able.
Survivors include his son, Tod Long and his wife Judy of Washington; daughter Tracy Henry and her husband J.R. of Wheatland; grandchildren Nicholas Long and his wife Heather, Eric Long and Makayla Spears, Janesa Meek and her husband Casey, Jarryd Henry, Jenifer Hartman; great-grandchildren Kensley Long, Kellan Hartman and Dax Hartman. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Joanne Long; brother Fred Long Jr.; and three sisters, Mary C. Hannah, Norma Wygal and Effie Conrad.
Friends may visit with Bill's family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, Indiana. Bill's funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at the funeral home, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the hour of service time of 10 a.m. Bro. Tom Watson will officiate Bill's service and interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Online memories may be shared with Bill's family at www.goodwinfamilyfh.com.
