Barbara "Susie"'s Story
Barbara "Susie" Baxter, 89, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana. Barbara was born in Loogootee, Indiana, Sept. 28, 1928, to Lawrence and Eathel (Workman) Buhr. She married Carl Klingle on June 30, 1949. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1982. She then married Ernest "Gene" Baxter on Nov. 28, 1983. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2017.
She was a graduate of Loogootee High School. Barbara was a farmer most of her life and was also a beautician for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and loved dogs and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three daughters, Wanda Uebelhor and her husband Rick of Jasper, Diana Klingle-Wilson and her husband Ken of Pittsboro, and Kim Doty and her husband John of French Lick; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death besides her husband are one daughter, Karla Klingle; one son, Daniel Klingle; and one brother, Wilford "Bud" Buhr.
A Memorial Mass for Barbara "Susie" Baxter will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield, Indiana. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Northwood Retirement Community or to a favorite charity.
