Arthur "Art" Dale Beck, 93, of Beech Grove and formerly of Petersburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home at 8:42 p.m. Saturday.
He was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Pike County, to Walter and Ethel (Gross) Beck.
Arthur graduated in 1942 from Petersburg High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Indianapolis and worked at Navistar Internal and was president of Local 98, retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Moose Lodge.
Arthur was married to Mildred L. (Mahan) Beck for 32 years. She passed away May 15, 2013. He is also preceded in death by his brothers William, Harold and Walter Jr. Beck; and a sister, Hilda Harrell.
He is survived by his children, Barry Beck (Tina) of Cape Coral, Florida, Anthony Beck (Susan), Suzanne (Beck) Shipley, and Dawn Beck, all of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. Ronald Ficklin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
