Alva Raber, 89, of Montgomery, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Friday at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Daviess County, to the late Joe and Barbara (Knepp) Raber.
Alva was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Raber, who passed away March 19, 1997; parents Joe and Barbara (Knepp) Raber; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Henry Raber, John Raber, William Raber and Jerome Raber; sisters Margaret Graber, Mary Graber, Martha Graber, and Ida Wagler; step-mother Fannie Wittmer Raber; and daughter-in-law Rosa Jean Raber.
Alva is survived by his children, Delilah (Vernon) Wagler of Montgomery, Clara (Paul) Knepp of Washington, Ernest (Anna Mae) Raber, Wilmer (Joyce) Raber, Paul Raber, Daniel (Leah) Raber, Raymond (Rutha Ann) Raber, Alva Jr. (Susie) Raber, all of Montgomery; 52 grandchildren; 140 great-grandchildren; and brother Herbert Raber.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Monday at the family residence, 7328E 300N, Montgomery. Burial will follow in Wagler Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. and will continue until the time of service at the family residence.
